5 Must-Have Things I Bring in My Day Hike Backpack
My day hikes have ranged from 12 miles to 2 miles but I use the same day hike backpack. I’ve had this backpack for years, and it is still my go-to backpack. I take it everywhere with me and on all my trips both domestic and international. If you’re looking for a reliable, lightweight, smaller day hike backpack, check out this one. It has straps you can use to provide more support which is great!
With that said, here are 5 Things I pack in my day hike backpack when I go hiking:
Snacks, snacks, and more snacks: I always have snacks. Sugar is a great energy booster for me when I’m hiking.
Water bottle: I’ve used this filter water bottle for years now and it’s still my go-to water bottle for day hikes.
First Aid Kit: I always make sure to have a small first aid kit with me. This can easily be DIY. This is just in the case something happens.
Portable Charger: I always have a portable phone charger with me to make sure my phone is always charged. This just helps with ease of mind.
Extra wear gear: If I’m hiking at a place where I know the elevation may affect the weather, I will bring an extra sweater or jacket, or head accessory so I can wear when the weather changes.
Honorary Mention: When possible, I make sure to have paper map with me. While I haven’t had an issue using my phone, I try to have a paper map on hand in case anything happens.
These are 5 things I always bring with me on my day hikes. The backpack that I use is small but it can carry a lot of things. I love that it has multiple pockets as well.
