5 Things to do in Acadia National Park
A Travel Guide to Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park, located along Maine’s picturesque coastline, is a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts and travelers wanting a scenic vacation. Known for its dramatic landscapes, hiking trails, and panoramic ocean views, Acadia offers something for everyone—no matter the season.
I visited Acadia National Park in October, and it was truly magical. Fall is one of the best times to visit, as the park comes alive with the autumn foliage. Every hike and scenic drive feel like a postcard moment.
But Acadia’s beauty isn’t limited to fall—it’s beautiful year-round. Whether you’re hiking Cadillac Mountain in the summer, enjoying peaceful winter walks, or catching spring blooms, there’s always something to see and do.
If you’re planning your trip, here are 5 incredible things to do in Acadia National Park that will make your visit unforgettable.
Beehive Trail
Beehive trail is a 1.5 mile look trail up the Beehive summit. This is a moderate easy trail. However, it is a trail that takes you up the side of cliff. There are metal railings and metal steps that you can use to help you climb up. If you cannot climb, or you’re uncomfortable with heights, the Beehive Trail may not be the best option for you. You can get to the Summit through the Bowl Trail.
With the Beehive trail, you go up the Beehive and then down the Bowl trail. This is the easiest way up and down the summit.
I recommend getting here early for the best parking. We arrived around 8:30 and there was already a pretty full parking lot. When we finished the hike, people were parked down the road because the lot was full.
Jordan Pond
The pond is a great place to stop and rest. We stopped here to eat our lunch. You can hike around the pond. There are great stops on the pond as well with chairs to rest. There is a parking lot here along with other short trails.
You can also stop by the gift shop here. There are great souvenirs you can get. If you need a rest stop, this is a great place to stop with a restaurant and restrooms.
Thunder Hole Outlook
This is an beautiful overlook. You see the coastline, the cliffs, the rocks. You can climb onto the cliffs for an amazing view. Definitely stay cautious and be careful as it’s easy to slip. If you’re driving along Park Loop Road, make sure to stop by all the overlooks.
Sand Beach
This beach shares the same parking lot as the Beehive trailhead. Whether before or after the hike, make sure to stop by Sand Beach. The rocks and views here are stunning. I loved seeing all of cliffs. This is a great place to each lunch or rest before moving onto your next Acadia to-do.
Bubble Rock Trail
This trail to Bubble Rock is 1.5 miles to and back. You can continue on as the trail does extend. The Bubble Rock is much bigger in person and actually quite impressive so highly recommend making a quick stop if you’re not in a hurry! The trail is uphill but it’s an easy hike.
There is a small parking lot by the trailhead. However, it does get full. If that’s the case you can park by Jordon Pond and walk an extra mile to Bubble Rock.
Final Thoughts on Visiting Acadia National Park
