How to get from Haneda Airport to Tokyo: Taking the Limousine Bus

There are a few ways to get from the airport to Tokyo. The 3 most popular ways are: train, taxi/uber, or the limousine bus. I will be sharing about my experience with the limousine bus.

Why the Limousine Bus?

The most affordable way to get from the airport into Tokyo is to take the train. The most expensive way is to take a taxi or Uber.

I decided on the limousine bus because it’s way cheaper than a taxi ride, but is more straightforward than trying to figure out the train system right off the airport.

A one-way ticket from Haneda Airport to Shinjuku Station is ~$9 USD.

We were also staying in Shinjuku so it was convenient.

How to get a Limousine Bus ticket?

You can book your ticket directly from the Japanese website.

You can buy your ticket at the counter at the airport.

You can book it online through Klook, which is what I did. I decided to book through Klook because there was a discount and I can exchange the voucher whenever I arrived in Japan. It was the most convenient way for me since it wasn’t constraint by time.

How to Claim Klook Voucher and Take the Bus:

After you get through immigration, you’ll enter the main area where you can exchange cash, buy train tickets, get other things you need.

Head to the Bus Ticket Counter. At the counter, show them your voucher. They will get you tickets for the next available bus.

On your ticket, it will show which bus stop you need to wait by.

You will see the sign for limousine buses on your wait out. Find your bus stop number. There will be a staff member there if you have any questions. They will check your ticket to make sure you’re at the correct spot, then label your luggage accordingly.

Once your bus arrives, the staff will check your ticket and your luggage one more time. The bus driver will put your luggage onto the bus and you can board. On the bus you can sit wherever you like, wherever there are seats available.

Depending on which terminal you arrive, the bus may go to the other terminals to pick up other travelers before departing the airport.

The bus ride is about an hour long. Make sure to monitor which bus stop you have exit off of.

We got off Shinjuku Station. Once you get off, the driver will take out your luggage, verify it against your ticket to make sure it’s the correct luggage. Then you can go your merry way!

The process is quite simple and effortless.

Final Thoughts:

If your hotel or place of stay is not in the direction of the limousine bus, it may be better to take other options.

If your hotel or place of stay is close or near where the limousine bus will be stopping, then I highly recommend going this route.

You don’t have to worry about the price like a taxi or uber. And you don’t have to worry about how crowded it may get like on a public train.

You can get your Limousine Bus Vouchers from Klook here.

If you’re headed to Japan, I hope you found this helpful! I loved my trip there.
