Online shopping is nothing new. You have probably bought clothes online. But what do you do when you want to buy from a brand that you’ve never tried before? Or if you want to buy from a brand but there’s no physical store near you?

I enjoy shopping for clothes online because the organizational system on the websites are helpful and it’s easy for me to find what I’m looking for. Here are 6 shopping tips you can use to help you have a better shopping experience.

Place this code where you want an ad to appear. Do this for each individual ad unit, on every page.

Know your measurements:

This is probably the most important part when it comes to shopping online. Brands have different size charts which can make it difficult to shop. One brand’s size small is not the same as another brand’s size small.

This is why it’s important to know your own body measurements. The measurements you would especially need to know: waist, hip, bust, height. After figuring those out, you can then use this against their size chart guide to buy the best size for you.

Find model measurements & size info:

I love when brands tell you the measurements of the model and the size the model is wearing. I especially focus on the waist and hip measurement. If a model’s measurement is similar to mine, I have a better picture of what a product is going to look on me.

If the model’s measurements are not like mine, I still get a visual of what a certain size looks like. I get the measurement of the model and the measurement of the clothing and I get to see whether something runs small or large and I can compare that to my own measurements.

Read size chart

This is important. The size chart will tell you the measurements of the clothing and how the brand measures their clothing. This is especially important if you’re trying out a new brand. Reading the size chart is just another step to making sure you’re buying the size that will suit you best.

Read reviews

Reviews are the best especially for clothes. You get real and honest opinions about the quality of something. You also get more information on how a piece of clothing actually fits. Most reviewers provide their height and the size they bought. They also include whether something runs large or small. Some reviewers even include photos.

I always opt for the review section when it comes to clothing because this is where I get details about the quality of something. Photos can’t always depict quality—but reviews can tell you if it’s worth your money.

Watch reviews

If you’re not much of a reader, head on over to YouTube and watch reviews! Videos like try-on hauls, first impressions, and styling tips are especially helpful because you get to hear the person’s opinions and see what the product looks like on.

This is another precautionary step if you want to truly make sure something is worth buying.

Read about their return/exchange policies

Finally, read the brands return and exchange policies. A lot of clothing brands offer free shipping for returns and exchanges, which I think is great. Some brands offer a 14-day or 30-day return policy.

This is just another step to help you plan ahead. For example, if you’re going to be on vacation and your product is going to arrive while you’re on vacation—will you still have enough time to try on the clothes and then contact them to return the product if it doesn’t work out—all of that within those required business days? If not, wait until you come back to purchase.

Plus, reading a store’s return/exchange will literally only take like 1-2 minutes to read and know. Be a good customer.
