Solid Shampoo Bar and Solid Conditioner Bar Review
I’ve been wanting to try solid shampoo bar and solid conditioner bar for a very long time now. When my sister gifted me these, I knew I had to try them and share my experience! This is my first solid shampoo and solid conditioner to ever use so I don’t have anything else to compare them to.
I’ve been using the solid shampoo and conditioner for a month now. Before I go into my final thoughts about these two products, here are some information about my hair to help you understand the review better.
I have fine straight hair
No dye, natural
Short (medium) length
The solid shampoo and solid conditioner is the Moisturize Set from Hi Bar (hellohibar.com). You can find more information on their website.
With that in mind, here are my final thoughts.
SHAPE:
These solid shampoo and conditioner bars are not the typical flat round bars I’m used to seeing. They are more egg-shaped, almost like a beauty blender but with a flat bottom. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like using this shape, but I actually ended up really like the shape. It doesn’t bother me. With my shower, I can rest the solid bars on the seat and it doesn’t roll around, which is extremely helpful.
The shape also has a slant side at the top. I actually really enjoy using this to apply the shampoo and conditioner. Whenever I use it, it feels like I’m drawing on my head with a huge crayon. I actually think it helps with precise application.
Because this is a solid bar, it is hard like normal solid soap bars. If you hit your head, it may hurt. It’s easy to use but depending on the sensitivity of your scalp or skin, be gentle if necessary.
Overall, I don’t mind the egg-shaped of the solid bars.
LATHER:
The light color bar is the shampoo. To my surprise, the shampoo actually lathers nicely. Though I don’t have another solid shampoo to compare this one to, I’ve heard that a lot of solid shampoo don’t lather that well. This one, however, lathers nicely.
I did have to work the bar into my hair a little bit, but after drawing it around my head the lather is foamy and nice. I was very impressed with the lather.
If you’re looking for a solid bar that lathers—this one may be worth trying.
CONDITIONER:
The darker color bar is the conditioner. Much like the shampoo lathering, the result of the solid conditioner also surprised me. I wasn’t expecting the conditioner to actually condition my hair as nicely as it did—but it did! This conditioner left my hair feeling smooth and healthy. One thing I especially like is that it doesn’t leave a weird residue feeling on my scalp, which is AWESOME! My hair is also super soft after using this conditioner!
So did I like this conditioner? Yes, more than I expected.
It’s also easy to use. Use it the same way you do the solid shampoo. Feels just as nice normal non-solid conditioners, except this one is a solid bar.
SHOULD YOU TRY IT?
If you’ve been wanting to try solid shampoo bars or solid conditioner bars, I saw YES, definitely give these Hi Bar shampoo and conditioner bars a try. I think you’ll be surprised by them.
I can’t speak into how they work with curly or thicker hair, so if you have curly/wavy hair or thicker hair, definitely do your research before buying.
I also have short hair so it doesn’t take long to work the bar into a lather. If you have long hair, this process may take longer.
The bar is also a solid bar so it’ll be hard on the head. This may be something to consider if you don’t like the feeling of a hard item on your head.
OTHER COMMENTS:
The one I used is the Blue Moisture Set. I cannot however speak into whether it improved the moisturization of my hair because the condition of my hair is not problematic to begin with.
With that said though, my hair and head does feel refreshed and clean after every use.
There is a subtle fresh scent in this set, but it’s not strong which I appreciate.
I definitely enjoyed using these solid bars more than I expected. I highly recommend them if you’ve been wanting to try solid bars. Honestly, even though I haven’t tried other brands, I’m so glad I got to try these first because they exceeded my expectations.
I also recieved the Green Maintain Set from my sister so I’m excited to use that set too!
They also have an Orange Volume Set on their website.
I’ve been wanting to try solid shampoo and conditioner because I do think they are more sustainable. It’s one way I can help to reduce waste in my life. I’m not perfect by any means, but I do believe that we can all do what we can with what we have.
If you have any solid shampoo or solid conditioner you would recommend, share them below! I would love to try other brands as well.
