What to do near Salt Lake City | A weekend in Salt Lake City
I spent a weekend getaway in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a fun birthday trip. I loved how close the city is to all the mountains and outdoorsy activities.
If you’re looking for things to do in and near Salt Lake City, here is a guide of my weekend trip there.
Where to stay in Salt Lake City:
We stayed at the Hyatt House. It was perfect for 4 of us, and the location was convenient for the things we were going to do. It also came with a kitchen which was convenient for us. The hotel also has complimentary breakfast, a great workout room, an outdoor pool and hot tub.
Getting Around:
We got a rental car. A car is your best bet on getting around, especially if you want to explore the different hiking trails and go into the mountains.
DAY 1
Lake Mary Trail at Brighton Ski Resort
The trail had beautiful wild flowers and plenty of foot traffic. The lake was beautiful.
Lunch: Nuan’s Thai Kitchen
We stopped for lunch here on our way back into the city. If you’re looking for a solid Thai restaurant, definitely check out Nuan’s!
Snowbird Resort
We spend the evening here. They have their summer activities which were so fun to do. You can enjoy the mountain coaster, alpine slide, bungee trampoline, a tram ride to the summit and more. Highly recommend!
DAY 2
Bonneville Salt Flats
This is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Salt Lake City, but it is so worth the drive! The flats were absolutely stunning.
Valley View/Twin Peaks Trail
This trail is close to the city. You get a beautiful view of the city from up there. It’s an open field trail so take extra water. Highly recommend going during sunset for a cooler weather and beautiful sky view.
Tuscany Restaurant
It was my birthday, so we went to Tuscany Restaurant. The food was great. The atmosphere was relaxing. If you’re looking for a nice dining experience, check out Tuscany Restaurant.
That was my weekend trip in Salt Lake City. We flew out the next morning. The trip was short but it was still great just to be outdoors and be in a city I’ve never been before.
Salt Lake City has plenty of hiking trails all around so definitely carve out time to go hiking!
