Why You Should Try Clean Beauty Products
I think the more we know our own bodies, the more we can figure out what works best for us. My journey to clean beauty started because I was dealing with problematic skin that I couldn’t seem to fix. You can read about why I transitioned here.
Since then, I’ve discovered brands and products that I love.
Do I think everyone needs to jump on the clean beauty trend? Honestly, no. And I say no, because, again, our bodies are different from one another. What works for someone else may not work for you.
For example, Some clean beauty brands uses all plant-driven ingredients. But I don’t always buy products with that label because, based on many past experiences, certain things in that product triggers my skin to react. While there are some clean beauty brands who uses both natural and synthetic ingredients and their products don’t typically trigger my skin at all.
It’s extremely extremely important to know more about your skin. This way, you can make better decisions about what to use on your skin.
With that said though, here’s why I still think you should try clean beauty products.
A good product, is a good product.
A good blush is a good blush. And if I find a blush I really like, I’m going to share it. The fact that it’s clean is just a huge plus!
This is the same with skincare. A good cleanser is a good cleanser. For example, the meltaway cleanser from Farmacy—it’s clean, but it works! And it’s an amazing product.
Don’t shy away from using a product just because it’s labeled “clean” or “natural” or any of the other labels that comes under the umbrella of clean beauty.
Be Conscious of what goes on our skin
Just like how we care about what goes in our body, it’s important to know what we put on our bodies. My transition to clean beauty as challenged me to be more conscious about what I’m putting on my skin as well as learn more about my skin type and skin problems. I think that the more we know, the better our decisions. Again, do your research and find what works best for you. For example, a lot of clean beauty products don’t use fragrances in their products and some brands see fragrance as a not-so-good ingredient. However, fragrances don’t actually trigger my sensitive skin so when I’m looking to buy a product, I don’t focus so much on whether is has a scent or not. But to someone else, fragrances can make or break their buy.
Transitioning to clean beauty has also challenged me to research why some ingredients are toxic, why some countries ban certain ingredients, why some brands use certain ingredients and why some don’t. From there, I’m able to decide what I want to use.
At the end of the day, the more we know, the more we can make better decisions as consumers for ourselves. Clean beauty is really about being conscious consumers—knowing more about the products, knowing more about ourselves, and making the best decisions for our own bodies and skin.
I challenge you to learn more about the products you’re using and the ingredients brands use. That way, you can make better decisions for you as a consumer.
